First Methodist Church (FMC) is starting a new program this summer to support families in our neighborhood. The new program is called, “Drop and Discover.” We are excited to share it with you and invite you to give it a try this summer. We know parents (or grandparents) that are caring for little ones sometimes need time to run errands, attend meetings, or just have a short respite break during their week. This is where “Drop and Discover” at FMC can be a resource to you and your family.
Starting June 10 th , from 9 to noon, FMC will open its doors to the families of our nearby neighborhood. The goal of “Drop and Discover” is to allow you to “Drop Off” your kids from the age of newborn to 8 years old, which typically represents up through 2nd grade at school.
FMC commits to the following to support your family –
Up to three rooms of the FMC education building are available, so kids are in age-appropriate settings.
Staffing will take place with FMC volunteers that are trained and have been pre-approved with a criminal background check.
Parents and grandparents will be able to go to an online FMC portal to register their kids in advance, so they can show up with confidence that there will be space for their children.
There will be planned activities for the kids, including music, crafts, puppet shows, educational lessons, etc.
Security for kids is important to all parents. We’ve installed a computerized check-in system that pairs the child to the parent that will be picking them up.
It is FMC’s desire to partner with parents. It is also our desire to be a resource to families who live in our neighborhood during this summer season. FMC has a history of partnering with Jefferson Elementary school (example: Brunch Boxes for school breaks).
We are excited to introduce this new summer program, and we hope you will stop by and give “DROP AND DISCOVER,” a try! Enjoy your summer and many blessings from your friends at First Methodist Church in downtown Clinton.
